Write a post, choose its language, add media and translations, and understand what can be changed after publishing.
The home feed is the centre of Lola. Signed-in members open New post from the top of home (or the + button on mobile). Guests can read the public feed and Discover, and see a prompt to sign in before posting. Discover has no composer — posting happens on home.
On the Lola home page, the composer sits at the top with the prompt “What’s happening.” Click it to open the New post dialog. On a phone, the centre + button on the tab bar opens the same composer.
Write your message, then press Post. Public posts appear at the top of the home feed and on Discover. If the post is in Kifuliiru, words from it may be added to the Mini Dictionary, and the post can count toward Language Pulse.
Tip
Home is the only place to publish. Discover is for browsing the same public posts without the composer or feed tabs.
New posts default to Kifuliiru. Switch Post language if you are writing Kiswahili, French, or English. The feed shows the main language; extra languages appear as a small mark such as EN or FR.
A line that starts with the language name and a colon is a translation. Lola splits those parts when you post. Write your Kifuliiru on the first lines (or after Kifuliiru:). Put other languages on their own labeled lines.
Prefer a second field? Press Add translation, pick a language, and type there instead of mixing everything in one box.
English: Hello friends on Lola.
Français: Bonjour les amis sur Lola.
Kiswahili: Habari marafiki kwenye Lola.Tip
If Post language is Kifuliiru, the feed shows the Kifuliiru text even when you also added English, French, or Kiswahili in the same box or with Add translation.
When you press Post, Lola checks that the main text matches the language you selected. It does not write the post for you.
A post tagged Kifuliiru that is actually English, French, or Kiswahili is blocked until you change the text, change Post language, label the Kifuliiru part with Kifuliiru:, or move the other language into Add translation. Mixed unlabeled languages are blocked the same way. You may see Use {language} or Add this as a {language} translation.
If you already provided Kifuliiru plus English, French, or Kiswahili, the remaining languages can be filled in the background after you post. Later, open Translate on a post: sparkles can Generate missing translations or Complete remaining languages. Review the drafts, then press Save — nothing is stored until you save.
New Kifuliiru words from a Kifuliiru-language post may be saved in the Mini Dictionary. Quality reviewers still handle junk and decide what is real Kifuliiru. After repeated junk, posting can be paused until the next day.
Privacy
Publishing, generating missing translations, or completing remaining languages may send that post text to the language service. Direct messages are never sent. See Privacy for details.
Attach up to four images from the composer, or record audio in the same dialog. Voice posts are especially useful for pronunciation and everyday speech.
A public voice post can also be indexed into Kifuliiru FM. From Kifuliiru FM, Start recording opens this same Lola audio composer on home.
For longer archive recordings with a required title and Kifuliiru description, use Ganuula instead — see Kifuliiru FM & Ganuula.
Open the post menu (three dots) for Copy link, Share…, View post, Translate, and Report. Report sends a thank-you note that the team will review — it is not a live moderation dashboard.
Only you can Delete your own post. There is no edit-after-publish flow today: if you need to fix something, delete and post again.
Likes and comments live on the post card and the post detail view. Bookmarks are listed in the app but are not available yet.
Note
A public post has a permalink at /p/ followed by its id. Copy link copies that address so you can share it outside Lola.
